Swim Ireland and LEN - European Aquatics came together to commemorate the 100-day countdown to the European U23 Championships by unveiling the official Dublin 2023 Logo.
The inaugural U23 Championships, hosted by Swim Ireland and LEN, will take place at the Sport Ireland National Aquatic Centre from August 11th to 13th. The event has already garnered excitement, with renowned Irish Olympians Daniel Wiffen, Ellen Walshe, and Mona McSharry confirmed to compete.
The newly revealed logo, designed with Branding.Sport, pays homage to the beautiful city of Dublin. It incorporates two of the city's most iconic landmarks: the Poolbeg Chimneys and the Spire of Dublin. The Poolbeg Chimneys, towering at over 207 meters, once served as one of Ireland's tallest structures. Although decommissioned in 2010, they continue to stand as protected structures, visible throughout Dublin City. The Spire of Dublin, unveiled in 2003 (the same year Ireland hosted its first European Championships), celebrates its twentieth anniversary. This remarkable 120-meter landmark stands proudly in the heart of the city on O'Connell Street.
The vibrant colours used in the official emblem draw inspiration from the distinct characteristics of Dublin City. They symbolise the warmth and renowned friendly welcome of its people, who attract thousands of visitors to the city year-round.
