Waterford Gallery of Art
Print and digital design
Our collaboration with the Waterford Gallery of Art was an inspired journey in translating the essence of one of Ireland's most prestigious art collections into tangible, artistic communication materials. nmcDesign was tasked with the design of brochures and marketing collateral that reflect the gallery's evolving exhibitions, which are renewed two to three times a year.
Our approach was to meld the historical with the contemporary, creating pieces that are not just informative but also collectable works of art in their own right. The goal was to craft designs that serve as silent yet eloquent narrators of the visual stories told within the gallery's walls—designs that honour and amplify the legacy of the Waterford Art Collection and the architectural splendour of its Quaker-influenced setting.
The Art of Elegance Meets the Craft of Communication
At the Waterford Gallery of Art, where history brushes against the present like a masterpiece against a fresh canvas, our latest project was to create brochures and marketing material as timeless as the collections they represent. Twice or three times yearly, the exhibitions transform, and so does our canvas, ensuring each brochure is a collectable—almost rivalling the allure of Paul Henry's misty landscapes or the boldness of Mainie Jellett's abstractions.
Just as the gallery is a sanctuary of Irish artistry, nmcDesign aims to be the silent narrator of this visual symphony.
Where Design Honours Legacy
In a city where Thomas Jackson’s architectural legacy stands proud, we crafted a suite of marketing materials that are more than mere guides—they are homages to Waterford’s cultural tapestry.
Each piece, from the texture of the paper to the choice of typeface, echoes the dedication of the Quaker community, of which Jackson was a cornerstone. Like the gallery’s storied walls, the designs don't just tell you what's on display; they whisper stories of a heritage rich with artistic fervour, enveloping patrons in a narrative that dates back to 1939, where the Waterford Art Collection began its journey to become a beacon of Irish art history.
